Activities
The integrated activities in this planning grant employ six pilot studies probing the three RESUME thrusts, the development of OSPREY platform capabilities to support the pilot studies, and a participatory co-design process with stakeholders to refine the RESUME center vision, shape the pilot project and future research, and support broader impact outreach.
Research Thrusts
The following three primary research thrusts were identified as key gaps in PIPP capabilities and are probed by this planning grant.
Pilot Studies
Members of the RESUME research team have identified six pilot studies in support of the research thrusts. During the planning phase of this grant, the pilot studies explore and probe to determine if research developments in these areas sufficiently address capability gaps related to the thrusts.
Workshops and Stakeholder Engagement
The RESUME center and OSPREY platform seek to advance innovative new capabilities and scientific understanding that will improve how public health officials anticipate the unfolding of future pandemics and evaluate interventions that manage and halt them. We envision that these new capabilities will help public health officials both improve their current processes for pandemic response as well as enable new and even more effective processes. A participatory co-design process with public health officials and researchers will be adopted to help shape the research agenda for data systems, predictive modeling, and pathogen science and the design of decision support systems that will enable significant improvement in pandemic response.
